Ports of Jersey to bring future security requirements in-house
From Jersey Airport,
26 September 2018
From January 2019, Ports of Jersey will bring all future security requirements in-house at the Airport and Harbours.
Existing security arrangements have been provided by G4S Jersey for the past 18 years, with the current contract due to expire at the end of this year.
G4S Jersey employees are being invited to join Ports of Jersey employment in the same role as they currently hold. This includes those in security agent, supervisory, traffic control, freight and administration roles, whether full time, part time or zero hour.
Existing employment terms and conditions will remain unaffected and Ports of Jersey will provide employees with a wide range of opportunities and the right training. Discussions with G4S Jersey staff are currently taking place.
The move comes following an independent review into existing security arrangements at both gateways, which identifies security as a significantly increasing element of the Ports of Jersey's overall considerations. With these considerations in mind, insourcing its security requirements will allow Ports of Jersey to gain greater control over its arrangements.
Ports of Jersey acknowledges and offers its thanks to G4S Jersey for its support and commitment to the security operation it has provided at both the Airport and Harbour and in particular the professionalism and dedication of the teams delivering these services.
Ports of Jersey is keen to deliver the successful transition as soon as possible, and would like to have this completed by January 2019.
