Comic Relief 2017 - Dance Yourself Silly

From Jersey Airport,
20 March 2017

Team British Airways Jersey is planning to 'Dance Themselves Silly' as part of their fund-raising efforts for the 2017 Comic Relief Red Nose Day this Friday 24 March 2017.

Plans are in place for a 12-hour Danceathon in the landside Departure Terminal at Jersey Airport between 6am and 6pm where the airline's Jersey based ground agents, Airline Services, will be donning various guises and cutting some shapes on the dancefloor with special appearances from the likes of Elvis Presley and ABBA. Throughout the day they will be joined on the dancefloor by a number of dancers from local primary schools as well as an Irish Dance Troupe.

Friday's event will be the conclusion of a number of FUN-raising activities taking place throughout the week. The BA check-in area, Executive Lounge and its departure gates will be decorated for the occasion, staff will be in costume shaking the famous red donations' buckets, official Comic Relief merchandise will be on sale as will cup-cakes.

Prior to this, on Wednesday 22 March BA will welcome a special visitor to the Island in the shape of well-known TV presenter Vernon Kaye who will be joining children from St Peter's Primary School on a Big Red Bus travelling between the airport and Weighbridge Place, St Helier where he will be helping to raise the profile of the fund-raising activities and drawing the winning tickets for the BA Prize Raffle. Earlier this year a children's competition was held to design a suitable Red Nose themed BA aeroplane and the winner will be announced.

Anyone who wishes to meet Vernon Kaye are invited along to  Weighbridge Place, between 2pm and 3:30pm (approximate times).

On behalf of BA Team Jersey, Lorraine Pih, Airport Manager for Airline Services says, "This has been a real team effort and we are excited to be holding such a major fund-raiser on behalf of British Airways in Jersey. We hope people will come and support our efforts over these next few days and in particular during Vernon Kaye's Big Red Bus Tour on Wednesday.

Finally, in preparation for the fund-raising activities BA Team Jersey have recreated the famous Peter Kaye/Tony Christie skit to the song 'Amarillo' filmed entirely at Jersey Airport. The video clip can be viewed online

BA Team Jersey has also set up a dedicated fund-raising page and all donations gratefully received as they hope to reach their target of £10k.
