Preparing for February Half-Term Getaway

From Jersey Airport,
07 February 2018

Over 13,000 passengers are expected to travel through Jersey Airport and St Helier Harbour this weekend at the start of the February Half-Term school holidays.

Between Friday 09 and Sunday 11 February 2018, just over 11,000 air passengers are due to depart and arrive with Friday expected to be the busiest day. Similarly, Condor Ferries is also expecting a busy Friday with St Malo services over the weekend particularly popular.

With large volumes expected, Ports of Jersey is advising passengers, in particular those travelling through Jersey Airport to allow sufficient time for checking-in and accessing central security search. "A large volume of flights result in a large volume of passengers, which could invariably cause queues at key points of your journey", says Passenger Services Manager for Ports of Jersey, Maria Le Tiec. She continues, "Although we are prepared for large volumes of passengers we would urge them to ensure that they are prepared for traveling at a busy time of the year, especially those with young children. Please ensure you are prepared for central security search and are aware of what you are permitted to carry in your hand luggage so that this doesn't result in delays at the security search points. Should passengers have any specific travel needs or require special assistance please contact your airline prior to coming to Jersey Airport so appropriate arrangements can be put in place".

Although last year's February Half Term holiday was later in the month than it falls this year, a total of 11,042 air passengers were recorded through Jersey Airport during that period in 2017.
