Air passenger numbers continue to rise - July 2018 statistics

Just under 8,000 additional air passengers travelled through Jersey Airport in July 2018, compared to the same period last year. A total of 183,534 air passengers were recorded for the month compared to 175,633 in 2017.

 

Year to date 2018, air passenger numbers have increased by 3.5% compared to 2017 with a total of 941,733 recorded against 909,792 last year, an increase of nearly 32,000 passengers.

 

All UK routes continue to perform well, with increases recorded on all departure points, although a slight year-to-date drop of 5% on inter-island services. The German market, which suffered in 2017 due to a loss of Air Berlin services is also showing signs of recovery with a total of 10,874 recorded year to date compared to 8,784 in 2017 – an increase of 25%.

 

EasyJet, which currently operates eight routes on its Jersey network continues to have the largest market share of 37%, followed by British Airways and Flybe, both at 22%.

 

Latest sea passenger numbers are expected to be released within the coming weeks.
