15 May 2017
April 2017 saw an increase in excess of 13,000+ commercial air passengers through Jersey Airport compared to the same period in 2016.
During the month, we welcomed a total 141,114 passengers compared to 127,765 in April 2016- an increase of +10.4%. Year to date we have seen 428,650 air passengers compared to 425,284 in 2016. Last year we welcomed our highest number of air passengers since the year 2000 and being able to maintain this high level is very encouraging. With the exception of inter-island services, which remain down we have seen a welcome increase across many of our regions, including London, north east, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Similarly, sea passenger numbers are also up by +32% for the month of April 2017, welcoming 72,108 sea passengers compared to 54,825 for the same period in 2016. Overall, this has helped to increase year to date 2017 sea passenger numbers, which now stand at 128,742 compared to 109,122 in 2016; an increase of +18% for the year.
Vehicles numbers continue to rise, up by +14% year to date compared to 2016.
