Jersey Airport is committed to broadening the horizons of young islanders; after all they are the travellers of tomorrow. To encourage and engage interest in our industry we host a number of 'behind the scenes' visits for local educational establishments, in particular primary schools and community groups. Working closely with many of our on-site business partners, including airlines, ground handlers, security and catering establishments, visits last approximately 3 hours and, depending upon the size, age and interests of the group can include the check-in and security experience, demonstrations and talks from airlines as well as the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (always popular!) and the obligatory refreshment stop.
Due to operational restraints and prior commitments these visits are of limited number per year and restricted to the winter period only (usually between October and March). These visits are available for groups of no more than 20 people at a time and are usually held on weekday mornings, although depending upon their requirements, some evening visits can be arranged for community groups.
The feedback we have received following these group visits have been excellent; not only from those who have attended but equally from staff and business partners who have taken part. For attendees it gives a glimpse into airport life and for those leading the visits it is an opportunity to showcase the enormous amount of work, often unseen to the travelling public, that goes on to enhance a passenger's journey experience through the airport and a chance to engage with a captive and interested audience.
Should you wish to arrange an educational visit to Jersey Airport please email in the first instance, Katey White (firstname.lastname@example.org) for further details. Please remember to include contact details and what you are looking to achieve so we can get back to you.
