Ports of Jersey is committed to adopting policies and activities that minimise our impact on the environment. We endeavour to conduct our business by using all reasonable practicable means to mitigate the impact of our operations on the environment.

By working collectively and proactively with our business partners, suppliers and contractors we will take all reasonable steps to prevent any adverse effects occurring and to protect the environment, ensuring wherever possible, that both present and future activities are conducted to address the concerns of the local community and wider environment.

CSR already plays an active and important role in many of the activities undertaken by Ports of Jersey. As follows are just some of the examples of environmental initiatives we have undertaken in recent years:

General Waste and Recycling

A significant amount of waste is produced annually at the airport, the harbours and marinas, so our waste strategy is important to us. As part of our overall waste management strategy some items are separated and sent for recycling, depending on the area of the business. These items can include batteries, florescent light bulbs, metals, plastics, paper, cardboard, printer cartridges, engine oil, stamps and telephone directories.

Ports of Jersey is looking at ways to minimise waste in the future and is aiming to expand its current recycling schemes to include passenger areas and make it easier for its staff and business partners to recycle.
