Airport upgrade relocates cash machines

From Jersey Airport
11th May 2023

As part of the construction work to update security procedures at the airport, the ATM cash machines in the departure lounge are being relocated. This means both cash machines will be out of use from tomorrow (Friday) until early June, when they will reopen in their new location at the entrance to the departure gates.

This move is to allow new security technology to be installed, which uses advanced imaging systems to provide clearer images of cabin baggage. This will improve security and ease the security process for passengers. It should eventually allow liquids and laptops to be scanned while remaining in passengers’ hand luggage, however, the existing rules for liquids and electronics will remain in place until the new equipment has been tested and all security staff have been trained to use it.

While the cash machines are out of use, passengers who need English bank notes are advised to withdraw money from their bank, from the Broad Street post office or from the cashpoint machine at Elizabeth Terminal before heading to the airport. Otherwise, passengers can withdraw cash at their destination.

The Airport Information Desk has now moved to its new location next to the café in the check-in area of Departures. Jersey Post and forex services have moved with the information desk. This new location provides greater visibility for these customer services.

Car hire desks are now based in the arrivals terminal, where the café and play area used to be before the Covid pandemic. This will make it faster and more convenient for arriving passengers to pick up their hire cars.

This work is underway now to allow time for training and to ensure the best possible passenger experience before the new security equipment becomes mandatory in June 2024.
