Air passengers travelling through Jersey Airport will soon be greeted by some special furry friends and gifts with a conscience, as Durrell opens a retail outlet in the airside departures lounge.

As part of an ongoing partnership between Ports of Jersey and Durrell, the Jersey Zoo shop will take over a 63-square metre space, and offer a selection of products, with something for everyone; ranging from clothing and soft toys to puzzles and confectionary. Passengers will be able to show their love for their favourite animal at Jersey Zoo by purchasing an adoption pack to support their ongoing care or pick up the perfect memento of a trip to Jersey that will also benefit the planet.

Commenting on the partnership, CEO for Ports of Jersey, Matt Thomas, says, “We have long been a supporter of the excellent work carried out by Durrell, an incredible Jersey organisation who are making a substantial difference globally.

“We are proud to welcome them to our airside departures lounge. This is the first step in a longer-term partnership, demonstrating our shared passion for a sustainable future as Ports of Jersey starts to move forward with our sustainability plans. We can’t wait to share more on those plans soon”.

Durrell’s CEO, Dr Lesley Dickie, added, “We are thrilled to be opening a shop outside of Jersey Zoo, where visitors and locals can purchase items, which will really help to support Durrell’s vision of a wilder, healthier more colourful world. Everyone can play their part and now it’s even easier to support Durrell if you’re travelling through the airport.

“Expanding our retail offering is also the first step of our exciting partnership with Ports of Jersey. They are working on some ambitious sustainability goals and we are delighted to be with them on this journey”.

Work will start soon fitting out the vacant unit, with the new retail shop opening in April 2022. Durrell is currently recruiting staff to work in the new outlet.
