Jersey Roads Challenge reaches airport runway

From Jersey Airport
17th August 2022

A man who has spent much of this year walking 466 miles of every official road in the island to raise money for the JSPCA and Autism Jersey is completing his challenge by walking the length of the runway at Jersey Airport.

Tim Ringsdore, who is CEO of the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority, wanted to raise funds in a novel way, so he decided to take on the challenge to raise at least £2,500 for each charity. The JSPCA is the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority’s chosen charity for 2022 and Tim is supporting Autism Jersey personally.

All islanders, including dog walkers, were invited to join in and discover a part of Jersey they might not have explored before. Tim hoped his challenge would not only help raise money, but also encourage islanders to discover more local lanes.

He said: “My final walk down the runway on 26 August will complete this fantastic and enjoyable challenge. I have walked more than 700 miles since January to complete the challenge, the equivalent of walking from St Malo to Madrid, 1.36 million steps, 186 hours on my feet across the most beautiful island in the world.

“I’m delighted to have raised more than £4,700 so far and I’m hoping to get to £5000 in the next week. If you can support the JSPCA and Autism Jersey please go to Just Giving.

“Thank you to everyone who has sponsored and supported me and do look out for my next challenge.”
