From Jersey Airport
25th August 2021
The news that British Airways will continue flying to London Heathrow throughout the Winter 2021 schedule has been warmly welcomed by the CEO for Ports of Jersey, Matt Thomas and Deputy Chief Minister/Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport & Culture, Senator Lyndon Farnham
Matt Thomas says ‘We’re delighted that British Airways will continue to operate the London Heathrow route during the forthcoming Winter season. This certainly provides islanders and visitors with a choice of entry points into London, as well as an enhanced range of onward destinations. It also reflects British Airways confidence in Jersey as a destination and their ongoing commitment to the island.
‘In recent weeks, we have seen a surge in customer confidence to start to travel once more. Last week, almost 40,000 passengers travelled through Jersey’s Airport and Harbour, the highest weekly total since the pandemic began. We’re delighted that islanders are once more able to visit loved ones in the UK, to go on holiday and for tourists to come to the island and support our visitor economy.
‘We are very grateful for the support given by our airline partners and for this further demonstration of confidence in Jersey from British Airways.’
Senator Farnham comments, ‘I am pleased for islanders and visitors that British Airways is continuing to operate to Jersey from London Heathrow, as this is a key gateway for Jersey. I would like to thank the Route Development Team at Ports of Jersey and British Airways for their work in ensuring this important connection for the Island is maintained. I believe this announcement further demonstrates the continuing appeal of Jersey as a strong destination among our much-valued airline partners.’
