From Jersey Airport
6th February 2022
Ports of Jersey is proud to be have joined 200 airports across Europe in signing a ground-breaking agreement underpinning our commitment to ensuring a net zero future.
Launched on Friday, 04 February 2022, the ‘Toulouse Declaration’ is a historic treaty that marks the first time that European Governments, the European Commission, industry, unions and other key stakeholders are formally aligned on aviation decarbonisation.
The Toulouse Declaration will be translated into a structured dialogue and concrete policy action. Industry is already transitioning to a decarbonised future through improvements in aircraft and engine technologies, the development of sustainable aviation fuels, improvements in air traffic management and aircraft operations.
CEO for Ports of Jersey, Matt Thomas, comments, “The aviation industry has an important role to play in tackling global climate issues. By signing up to this joint initiative, Ports of Jersey is demonstrating our commitment and passion to leading the way in taking on these issues with our Toulouse Declaration partners, to succeed together.
“Each and every airport must play their part and ensure they are making a difference. We are looking forward to sharing our sustainability strategy in March 2022, which will clearly outline the measures we will be taking as a business over the next 10 years for the benefit of our people, our community, our Island and our planet”.
