Departure Lounge redevelopment

Published: 28 January 2026

Work to transform and upgrade Jersey Airport’s Departure Lounge enters its most significant phase today, meaning passengers can expect some temporary changes to their journey through the terminal.

Following months of extensive behind-the-scenes preparation, the next stage of construction is now underway.

It means that after clearing Security, passengers will now follow a new temporary walkway to the Departure Lounge, creating a slightly different route and some additional waiting areas while work continues.

The redevelopment, which is fully funded by Ports of Jersey and forms part of a long-term, ten-year programme of investing in Jersey Airport, focuses on upgrading facilities and improving passengers’ first and last impressions of the Island.

There will be no impact on flights or check-in operations during this phase of work, and all food, drink and retail outlets remain open throughout the construction period, though some are accessed via new routes or located in temporary spaces.

Sarah-Louise Stubbs, Head of Terminal Operations at Ports of Jersey, said: “We’re upgrading the Departure Lounge while keeping the airport fully operational, and we’ve worked hard to ensure key services remain open, accessible and easy to find. Clear signage is in place and additional team members are on hand to support passengers. This is a significant investment in Jersey’s airport and in the first and last impressions we offer to everyone travelling to and from the island.”

What passengers can expect during this phase:

  • after clearing Security, passengers will follow a new temporary walkway leading to the Departure Lounge, where all current facilities remain available
  • continued access to the Assisted Travel Lounge, now located between Gates 2 and 3 (The old BA lounge)
  • No1 Lounge, World Duty Free and Café Ubé will remain open, with the café and bar temporarily relocated to the former TV lounge area
  • World Duty Free remains open as usual, with the addition of travel essentials, and passengers looking to save time can order products in advance online and receive a 10% discount

This current phase of works is scheduled to complete in summer 2026. The next major phase, which will include the creation of a sit-down dining option, a new bar and a grab-and-go café, is planned to be delivered spring 2027.

Ports of Jersey has been working closely with a range of local partners throughout the redevelopment, including the Chamber of Commerce, Jersey Business, Brighter Futures and other stakeholders, to help shape design elements and special spaces within the upgraded Departure Lounge. This collaborative approach ensures the finished space reflects Jersey’s character while supporting local business, community and connectivity.

The redevelopment represents a major step in investing in Jersey Airport’s future, delivering a modern, brighter and more comfortable Departure Lounge designed to enhance the passenger experience now and for generations to come.
