What has happened to Blue Islands?

Blue Islands Limited has suspended operations.

Why is the Government of Jersey involved?

Blue Islands provides essential air links for the island – particularly the Southampton medical transfer service, as well as inter-island and UK regional routes.

Why couldn’t the Government keep the airline running?

Blue Islands, like many small regional carriers, has faced major financial pressures in recent years – including higher operating costs, volatile demand, and post-COVID recovery challenges.

What does this mean for passengers?

All Blue Islands flights are now cancelled.

Passengers with bookings should not travel to the airport unless they have been rebooked on another service. Please refer to Jersey Consumer Council for guidance.

Will Blue Islands restart operations?

From Sunday 16 November 2025, Loganair will begin operating a schedule of flights to and from Jersey, initially between Jersey and Guernsey, and Jersey and Southampton, with other destinations to follow soon after. Full details, including how to book, can be found on the Loganair website.

What happens to my booking?

All existing bookings have been cancelled.

Advice in relation to what costs can be reclaimed, details can be found on the Jersey Consumer Council website.

Are alternative flights available?

Yes. You will need to rebook a new flight. Passengers with bookings should only travel to the airport if they have rebooked on another service.

Airlines continue to operate to and from Jersey, including services to London Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, and Birmingham. These airports have good onward rail and road links to destinations such as Bristol, Exeter, and Southampton.

What will happen to Blue Islands employees?

Blue Islands employed around 130 staff, the majority based in Jersey and Guernsey.

Blue Islands is considering its options, but every effort is being made to help staff transition to future roles if routes are taken on by another airline.

I have a Blue Islands voucher or credit note – can I still use it?

I booked through a holiday company or online travel agent – what should I do?

If you booked as part of a package holiday, contact your tour operator or agent first. They can help arrange alternative travel or refunds under package travel regulations.

If you booked only the flight through an agent, contact them directly to confirm your refund or rebooking options.

I have a connecting flight booked from the UK – what happens now?

If your Blue Islands flight was the first leg of your journey, contact the airline or agent for your connecting flight immediately. They may be able to amend or credit your ticket.

Unfortunately, most connecting airlines will not automatically refund missed connections unless both flights were on a single booking.

Will the same flight routes return under a new airline?

I need to travel urgently for medical reasons – what should I do?

The Travel Office in Health and Care Jersey is aware of all confirmed bookings including patients and those people travelling with them and will contact you directly.

  • If you are booked to travel over the weekend, you will be prioritised and contacted as soon as possible. They will be working through bookings in departure order and clinical importance (for example, actual surgery or treatment planned to take place).
  • If you are booked to travel next week, the Travel Office will call you according to your flight schedule by 5pm on Monday.

If you do not hear from The Travel Office by the relevant time, please call 01534 442323 or Hospital Switchboard on 01534 442000, who will ensure the Travel Team supports you.

For travel scheduled beyond next week or if you have general queries, you may also email HSS.TravelService@health.gov.je for further information.

For emergencies only outside of the above hours please contact switchboard on 01534 442000 and ask for the Out of Hours on call.

The usual Travel Office opening hours are 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1pm Saturday.

I’m worried about the Island’s connectivity – will flights still operate to the UK?

Yes. Jersey Airport remains fully operational, and other airlines continue to serve major UK hubs such as Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, and Birmingham.
