Ready for half term

Published: 13 February 2025

Jersey Airport is gearing up for a week of busy half-term travel and is pleased to announce that a new family area is opening in the Departures Hall. Young children will be able to have fun before they fly in a puffin-themed space opposite the café. More entertainment will be added in the coming weeks and families are encouraged to give their views on what they would like to see there.

Head of Customer Experience, Sarah-Louise Stubbs, said: “I’m really pleased that we are developing a family area in Departures where youngsters will be able to relax, draw, and read a selection of books before their flights. We will be adding more activities to this facility in the coming weeks and would be glad to hear any ideas from young people and their parents about what they would like to see in this space.”

Passengers will find a QR code on the wall of the family area which takes them to a feedback form.

The area has been created with advice and support from the charity Brighter Futures, who will be part of a group advising on the development of the main departure lounge later this year. The charity’s CEO Fiona Brennan said: “It’s encouraging to see that Ports of Jersey is considering the experience of families in their designs for the new departures hall, and I’m pleased we could help with ideas for this family area. We look forward to working with Ports of Jersey, as we are committed to working with other organisations to improve services for families in Jersey.”

Half term travel

The airport is expecting more than 9,000 departing passengers over the first weekend of half term (14 to 17 February) with more than 40,000 arriving and departing passengers throughout the week (14 to 23 February).

There are also charter flights to Grenoble with Blue Islands and Tenerife with Fly Direct.

With many departing within minutes of each other, passengers are advised to leave plenty of time to check in their hold luggage and clear Security. There may be queues at busy times, but Ports of Jersey teams will ensure that everyone gets to their flights as quickly as possible.

The restriction on carrying liquids of more than 100ml in hand luggage remains in place. Such liquids must be taken out of your hand baggage and placed in a security tray, but they don’t need to be in a plastic bag.

Airport websites will provide information on their own security rules, but the general advice is to follow instructions given by airport staff when going through Security.
