Jersey Airport redevelopment – Investing in Jersey’s future

We’re transforming Jersey Airport: a multi‑year investment to deliver a more welcoming, resilient and accessible gateway for Islanders and visitors.

Why we’re redeveloping

Jersey Airport is entering an exciting new chapter. Our redevelopment is a bold investment in the Island’s future, designed to upgrade one of Jersey’s most important gateways and ensure it meets the needs of travellers for decades to come.

This transformation is about more than bricks and mortar. It’s about creating a space that reflects the character and charm of Jersey while delivering a seamless, world‑class travel experience. Our airport and harbours are the first and last impressions of Jersey – they deserve to be special. You shouldn’t have to step outside to know where you are; every journey should begin and end with a strong sense of Jersey.

How we got here

Ports of Jersey was incorporated in 2015 to invest in critical airport and ports infrastructure without relying on public finance. Over the past few years – through planning, design development, and the disruption of the pandemic – we’ve continued to prepare for the future.

Three years ago we partnered with a design agency to speak with Islanders about what makes them proud of Jersey and what they want from their airport. From thousands of images and comments, four design themes emerged. These themes underpin how spaces are zoned and finished across the terminal – bringing the Island’s living energy into the building in a fresh, contemporary way.

What’s changing

We’re improving:

  • Infrastructure: Modernising behind‑the‑scenes systems and, where needed, removing outdated structures (including the deconstruction of Hangar 4) to unlock space and resilience.
  • Departure Lounge: More seating choices, expanded food and retail, quiet zones, a cosy family space, and stunning runway views. Includes a dedicated Sunflower Room for anyone who needs a lower‑stimulus break.
  • Arrivals: Smoother flows from aircraft to kerb, improved wayfinding, more comfortable waiting areas and clearer onward travel information, and a nod to the Jersey’s unique and expansive culture and heritage.
  • Forecourt: A safer, greener and easier front‑of‑house experience for drop‑off, pick‑up and public transport.
  • Runway upgrades: Planned works to maintain runway integrity and resilience, renew critical assets and support reliable operations long‑term.
