Departure lounge redevelopment

Since opening in 1997, the Departure Lounge has welcomed millions of passengers. Nearly 30 years on, we’re reimagining the space for today: enhancing comfort, accessibility and flow so every journey begins with a strong sense of Jersey.

What you’ll see

Our Departure lounge will have:

  • More choice of seating: Quiet corners, sociable tables and power‑ready seats.
  • Expanded food and retail: A broader mix of local and international brands.
  • Runway views: Framed outlooks that celebrate the thrill of travel.
  • Family zone: A cosy space with practical amenities for little travellers.
  • Sunflower room: A dedicated calm space for those who need a sensory break.
  • Better flow: Clear lines of sight, intuitive wayfinding and reduced congestion.

Facilities at the Airport

Meet the artists

Art plays an important role in creating a strong sense of place throughout the airport. Meet the local artists helping us create spaces that reflect our island’s unique identity.

Aerial photography

We joined local drone photographer James Bedding – Quad Photography at Grosnez as he captured stunning aerial shots that will soon feature in our new Departure Lounge.

Every image has been chosen to celebrate Jersey’s landscape and create a true sense of place for everyone travelling through the airport.

Wicker cows

Moooooooving here soon… meet some of the newest arrivals heading to our new Departure Lounge…

We caught up with artists Alcindo and Michelle, to see how our incredible wicker cows are coming along, and they’re looking fantastic.

Open during works

We’re keeping essentials open throughout, including the café and World Duty Free. You may notice temporary hoardings and short‑term changes to layouts while we work behind the scenes. Thanks for bearing with us.

Shaped by Jersey, for Jersey

We started with the people – public interviews and over 2,000 Island photographs – to ask what makes you proud of our Island.

A Sense of Place forum brought together voices from across our community, and specialist designers have translated that insight into a calmer, hassle-free journey where you feel informed, understood and welcomed.

The look and feel draw on seven Jersey themes – local granite, coastal paths, cultivated fields, heritage towers, Jersey cows, dappled lanes and wild woodland – so you still feel “in Jersey”, not in a could-be-anywhere terminal.

This once-in-a-generation project will create an airport Islanders are proud of and visitors want to return to. Over the coming weeks when you visit the airport you will start to see more and more of those works, as currently most are behind the scenes. The airport will remain open and we will minimise disruption as much as we can, whilst always keeping you informed.
